Strange laws are all around us. One such law in Europe states pigs must have some entertainment prior to their slaughter.
What better way then to entertain pigs and people alike than with a new iPad app?
A team of Dutch designers have created Pig Chase - an iPad app that lets individuals play with pigs preparing to be plated.
Pigs would play the game on a large, touch-sensitive display on the wall of their pen. A human-controlled ball of light on the wall tempts them to touch it with their snout; rewarding virtual sparks fly from the light if that happens.
Humans would move the balls of light around using their finger on an iPad screen. They could also see the snouts of pig players on their tablet as though the animals were on the other side of a transparent window.
If both the human ball of light and the pig snout move through a triangle-shaped goal, huge virtual fireworks would reward the effort. Humans could also see how many goals they notch up during a play session on the game’s scoreboards.
According to the project’s web site:
“During the design process we discovered something that, to our knowledge at the time, animal scientists had not noticed until now: pigs like to play with light. For example, pigs are fascinated by the movement of reflected points of light, and are attracted to new light spots on a surface.”
Personally I find the European law ridiculous and the game revolting.
What about you? Would you play a video game that gets humans to play with their future pork meals? Share your thoughts with us in the comments!
